Marshmallow shooters

First off your going to need

1/2" PVC pipes. This stuff is 8ft long so make sure you are actually awake when doing the the math for how much you'll need. When I did it, my brain somehow thought that each pole was a foot long. So imagine my surprise and shock at my stupidity that I actually bought enough pipe to make 10 of these with that assumption. "What a dufuss." As a result I have made over 60 of these in the last couple months.

Each gun will use just over 2 ft of PVC piping

You are also going to need to buy the following for each gun
2 - 1/2" slip elbows. DO NOT buy stuff with Thread, it won't fit.

2 - 1/2" caps. Once again make sure there is NO thread.

2- 1/2" Slip Tees. Make sure all three ends are a 1/2" and that they do NOT have thread.

Now cut the PVC pipe so that you have 5- 3" pieces for each gun and 1- 7" piece for each gun

Once it's all cut out it's pretty easy to put together. First take your 7" pipe, add a "Tee", to each of the empty ends of the Tee add a 3" pipe. Add a cap to the end that points down and another Tee to the horizontal pipe. Now add a 3" pipe to the empty parts of that tee. At this point you need to make sure you've twisted it so that the leg you previously put a cap on is pointing down and the other one is pointed up. Add an elbow to the one that points up (this is the mouth piece) Also add an elbow to the 3" pipe that is horizontal with the rest of the gun. Add the last 3" piece to that elbow then cap it off with the remaining cap.

The finishing result should look like the below guns. Minus the paint, of course.

Some things that we learned from making and testing so many of these. First, pom poms work just as well, plus they don't harden and attract bugs later. Marshmallow that have harden HURT. Second that shoot much better if you add something to block the first handle and the back handle. Not only that but you can hold it in an upright position and still shoot depending on what pipes you block. We used press and seal to block off the ones we made. The final thing I learned is be careful with the type of paint you use. I found model car paint works best that and spray paint for plastic.

The last thing I learned is that people of all ages enjoy shooting others with them. As demonstrated by my grandma who is in her 80's

  2. You are too cool. I've seen them before, but never considered making them. However...My kids, all of them, including the husband and I, would have such a blast with these. Gonna have to try making some...one of these days.
