Grandma?

Okay....I've done my best to ignore it and not dwell on it. However, I'm having a little trouble with that. What you may ask am I getting on 'bout? It's really not a big deal or at least I didn't think it was. Anyway, what happened was I was at the church with the Hart boys. We were picking up their key that had been accidentally left at the previous sitters. Anyway, someone saw me with the boys and asked if I was "playing grandma". Playing grandma? don't I need to be a grandma before people can call me one. Hate to say it but has offended me. Trying to let it go but geeze. really a grandma? There are people my age with kids the age I was playing with. Guys a little hint...NEVER ask a woman if she's playing grandma unless she has at least 1 grandkid, even then think twice about it.

  1. Just try and let it go. People don't think sometimes before they open there mouths. I had someone in my old ward tell that I was sure gaining a lot of weight. Really? I was like 8 months pregnant, and she knew it.

  2. You are FAR too young to be a grandma!!! But don't be offended. People say dumb stuff without meaning it, or without having any idea they said something hurtful.

I was 15 when my baby sister was born (there were four kids between us). People asked me all the time if my sister was my baby -- at 15 or 16. HELLO! I thought the implications were pretty offensive.

  3. I am more over it than not. I just felt the need to put it out in the universe.

  4. It's like when someone asks you if you are expecting while you are carrying around your newborn infant because you still have the post-baby body. Awesome. If it makes you feel any better, it would only happen in our church because you can't tell the moms from the grandmas a good deal of the time! Out there in the rest of the world, you're more of the age to have a toddler and preschooler!
