It's that time again. A time of excitement, apprehension and worry. This is what I always go through as we go through a move. It's the next phase however that scares me. Usually, once I get to a new city, I start to feel depressed. I think it's because I've finished unpacking and there is nothing to keep me from thinking about all the friends I left behind. There are so many people here in the springs that I am going to miss. This is the longest that I have lived in any one area in my LIFE. We've been here since 2006. I hate saying goodbye to people. And I know I won't be able to say goodbye to everyone I would want to say goodbye to. On the upside it is a small world and people do sometimes return to your life. The place we're moving to, Rexburg, Idaho, has several people living in it and our new ward that we knew in Altus. Not to mention, many youth choose to go to college their so who knows maybe I'll see some of them.
Oh for those of you reading this that don't know. Our plans to move to American Fork fell through. Actually my mom and step fathers plans to buy a house in american fork fell through. So they offered to let us move anywhere and we'd still get the deal they offered us there. $500 a month rent they pay utilities, until John's VA benefits finally kick in. We tried to find a place here. But there was nothing in our stake that fit what we were looking for. So we figured if we are going to move out of the stake may as well make it a big move. So we contemplated a lot of things and finally decided that with both our kids enrolled in BYUI on different tracks that it would be a good idea to go there so that we wouldn't have to constantly be taking them to and from school. Anyway, we haven't told Jordan. We are going to surprise her. Have no fear the odds of her reading this are slim to none. I just need no one else to tell her.
We have several plans on how to tell her where we are moving. Jeremy's plan: he wants to pretend he is his own doppelganger. And mess with her. I personally don't think he can manage to keep up the act.
I think we should just have Jessica Porter come up with an excuse to have Jordan with her and have her stop to get something from a "house she is house sitting for". Then Jordan will go in and our stuff we be all unpacked and set up. I will have a video camera sitting there recording, so that I can see the look on her face when everything clicks and she realizes the furniture not only looks similar to her parents. It is her parents.
There is another plan to let her catch glimpses of us here and there, so that she thinks she is going crazy. I'm not sure I have the patience for that one.
If anyone reads this and has ideas on how to mess with her I'd love to read them.

You are going to be missed so much, Julie! But I know it's a good move for your family. I think if Jordan catches a glimpse of you and even thinks she sees you, she will go chasing after the someone she thinks is you, so that won't last long. It's going to be fun, no matter how you surprise her! Can't wait to hear about it!
ReplyDeleteRexburg is a great place to live! I think all of your ideas are hilarious. Make sure you post about what you finally come up with. And I agree, leaving the Springs is very hard.
