changes...

Let's see it all started yesterday 10:51, to be exact. I received a text from a young Craig Tingley, better know to our family as Orchid, Josie's boyfriend. Some idle texting followed tell about 10:59. at which point he tells me he has a question to ask that would be better via phone. I ask him if Josie has ever told him how much I hate phones. He tells me she has, but if I feel to uncomfortable he won't call. I, however am a big girl and will deal with it. So I tell him go ahead and call, I'll get over it. He says okay I'll call in a few.

I personally am all grins talking with JD who has already been released from school for the day because of CSAP. We both are pretty sure we know what he wants.

About a half hour later I get another phone text that says "Alright, are you ready for me to call? (Or am I ready to call is another good question.....?)"

I think about all the snotty ways I could reply but, I go for the simple and just tell him he's peaked my curiosity.

his reply "ha, ha.....here goes"

I answer the phone and I'm greeted by a nervous sounding voice, that manages to ask me for permission to ask my daughter to marry him. I say yes, you have my permission but, you really should ask her father. (insert evil laughter here)

No I didn't actually laugh but, in the back of my mind I'm laughing at both of them. I tell Orchid, John is not as scary as he sounds. Mind you in every conversation I've ever had with this young man he addresses me as Mrs. Z (I finally managed to get him to stop calling me ma'am) however the always present "yes ma'am" is in our texting and phone conversation. I also tell Orchid he has to call John at work, at his work number.

after we hang up the waiting is killing me I want to talk to John. However, I'm not about to tell him anything. Then JD tells me. Don't worry. Dad will call as soon as he gets off the phone with Orchid. He's right so I sit back and wait.

I receive a text on my phone. "He's not there"

So Orchid and I text back and forth, meanwhile I am constantly calling John's work phone. Finally John answers. I ask if he's going to be at his desk for a few minutes. He says he has to leave for an appointment. So I tell him someone wants to call him so he need to stay there. He wants to know who's going to call. I am so not going to tell him. So he threatens to not answer. I know he will but he's not happy about not knowing what's going on. I am all grins.

I text Orchid and tell him call him now. He has to leave soon.

Finally John calls me. The snot doesn't even mention Orchid. He says he's getting ready to leave.... What the.... So I ask him about it. All I get is yes he call, yes he gave permission after first asking some questions about religion. Wish I knew more but I don't.

Anyway, Josie knows he was going to ask us this. She just doesn't know he has, actually she might by now.

Ahhh....wait a sec. Orchid if you happen to read this, Jordan says you don't have her permission to marry he until you've watched the movie "the labyrinth". It's been Josie's favorite since she was 2...or was it 3? Anyway, I'm suppose to pass on that message.
