yesterday was a pretty good day. Just as I was about to give up on the day and put my unshowered (since Sunday - I know gross) body back to bed, to pass the time. I never seem to have anything to do and no reason to get dressed. So I sleep. Anyway, I was about to go sleep the day away when I got a message on facebook.
"Do I want to watch your kids?" I said to myself "Absolutely"
Finally a reason to shower and stay awake.
To be honest - I loved it. I got to watch Lexi and Gavin.
There are so many things I have forgotten since my kids have become teens. One of which is how to hold a baby and help a toddler with his food. Also forgot how fast those babies are when you're trying to feed them. Poor Lexi managed to get food all over in her hair before I could stop her. I think I got most of it out but still. I'm sure it was kinda comical to watch. Tyler, kept laughing to himself as he watched me trying to do these things. It probably didn't help that I was laughing to.
At once point I was trying to text Heidi (the mama) and hold Lexi. Wow that was interesting. To me forever to type a whole message and I'm not sure if I even got half the words spelled right. Not that I'm real big on going back and correcting typo's and such. I also discover later that I must have hung up on Heidi at some point in time. Sorry Heidi, it's a newish phone and I have no clue how to go from typing a text to answering the phone. Turns out I'm pretty good at hanging up on people though (not on purpose).
Anyway when Lexi was sleeping Gavin and I had so fun dancing and singing. We also watched Follow that bird. I love that movie, I always have. I think Gavin and even Lexi seemed to get a kick out of me singing all the songs. Did I mention, I love that movie. I'm trying to remember when the first time I saw it was. Did I watch it with my "baby brothers" or with Josie? Even now I still have some songs in my head. I love the songs from that movie.
By the time I left there I was very worn out, it was a good worn out though. I really needed that. I loved the way Lexi wanted me to hold her almost constantly. I love how when I wasn't holding her she still wanted me right there. I loved watching her fall asleep in my arms. I loved the way Gavin kept bringing Lexi toys. I loved the way his little smile would look at me. I loved the unsolicited hugs. I loved dancing with Gavin and I loved the way he grunts when you tell him no. I had to try really hard not to laugh at him when he did that.
And just for the record I went to sleep pretty quick last night. I usually watch three or four episodes of stargate before I feel tired lately. Last night I turned it on 5 minutes later I was turning it off.
Now I need to find something productive to do today. I have a craft in mind but, I'm not sure I really want to start another project at the moment. Maybe I'll work on my "First five" project for Colleen. Which reminds me I need to know what every one's favorite color in your family is. Well not Tommy's unless of course he's decided on a color. I'm pretty sure he might need more time to make that decision.

How fun, I love having babies around and mine are not teenagers yet. You are so fun.. I also love the movie follow that bird. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks a ton! I'm glad you had fun! It's funny how a break from your own life is so refreshing. I felt the same way yesterday!
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I am glad to hear the teenage years are different from the toddler years, at least in that they don't put food in their hair on purpose. What a great friend you are! I am sure the kids had a blast and Heidi did too.
ReplyDeleteI thought I missed out on the first five as I was no. 6! I am so happy! Let's see. Zach loves orange or black (although we are trying to encourage less black, more orange :)), Ben: purple hands down. Josh said "rainbow" when I asked him but got him to commit to "sparkly orange" or regular orange. Luke: well, he's never indicated a color but I'd say monkey brown or green. And like you said, Tommy hasn't settled on a color yet, so for now he's baby boy blue!
Colleen - One dropped out of my first five.
ReplyDeleteI still need a favorite color for you and your man.
Watching littles is the most fun.
