Driving, snow, touching what?

Yesterday, Jeremy officially received his driver's licence. Well not the hard plastic copy, that one will come in the mail. However he is able to now drive without John and I in the car. I must admit this scares me to death. I decided to let him drive all the kiddos to activities last night. I forgot however to tell him to call me once he got there. Fortunately, Jordan my 14 called. She said she knew I'd be freaking out so she thought she'd let me know they arrived safely. Later as I waited for them to arrive home, I received another call letting me know that they were going to be late cause Josie was still waiting for her appointment. So they hadn't left the church yet. They also called to let me know when they were on the way home. Weird. I've been trying for what feels like eons to get them to check in like this. I can't believe it's finally kicking in. And without me nagging them to do it.

In other news, JD turned 16 on Monday. He can now officially date. He's first date is going to be on Saturday. He is taking a friend to the homecoming dance. He is totally stoked that his brother will be able to drive them. Anyway for JD's birthday he choose for our family to go out to eat at Golden Coral. I use to love that place. But thanks to my loving husband. I constantly get grossed out eating there.

You see about a year ago, I think, we were eating there. My husband excused himself to use the restroom. When he returned he felt the need to point out a man that had just left the restroom without washing his hands. Unfortunately, that sent my mind into a variety of thoughts. Not only that but I noticed the little kids that were picking their noses and dishing their own food. I had a hard time eating anything after that. My kids wanted to know why. I explained it to them as plainly (and they claim loudly) as I could. The man has just returned for peeing which means he was touching his part. He didn't wash his hands and now his hands have touched the serving utensils which are touching my food and hands if I use them. So long story short, that man's PENIS is touching everything. -Shudder- Apparently heads from other tables turned when I said that. I didn't think I was talking loud. oh well. Time has passed and I still have a really hard time eating especially when I see the people that work there putting more food in the pans as they let the serving utensil fall into whatever the item was. But they just pick it up and leave it to use. Don't even get me started on menu's.

Well thanks to Colorado's weather. I am once again missing my morning walk. There are, I'm told, suppose to be Gail force winds today as well as snow. Last time I looked it was snowing. I really enjoy the morning walk. Not only is it good exercise but, I love the company. I love being able to get outside of my cage and socialize. Because of walking I've made a friend that I personally think is an awesome person. Her name is Robin, like the bird. Sorry, she said that once so now if I'm writing or telling some one about her I have to and the bird part. Our family really enjoys hanging out with her family. I really need to get a playful picture of them.

  2. I will be exactly the same in your shoes. I don't think my kids can ever drive without me. YIKES! But it's incredibly sweet that they kept checking in with you. I will never be able to eat at buffet again. Not that I've ever been a big fan.
