USAF

Well as everyone probably already knows, Josie received her USAF job and report date for basic. She is so excited. We've almost got her basic training bag packed. It's a small duffel with 3 very bland shirts, a pair of jeans, underwear, travel toiletries, a journal, important documents and stationary. All we need is the military scriptures.

That's all she taking, with the exception of maybe her digital camera. Why three bland shirts? Her recruiter told all the trainees that they should take three shirts and make sure they are bland and blend into the background. He said to try to think of any and every thing you can possibly say to a person wearing the shirts to make fun of/ pick on them. Cause that's what they are going to be doing to you in basic. He also said pack as light as possible. One of the games that the new recruits play is pick 'em up, hold 'em and drop 'em. So they have to pick up everything they brought repeatedly for quite some time. Till everyone can drop it all at the exact same time. We've also pre-addressed her stationary. With the exception of her grandma Marge. She'll be moving at that time. Also if you want to receive a letter from Josie while she's at basic shoot me your address so that I can put it on one or two of her envelopes.

Josie seems a little concerned about Christmas cause she won't be able to do anything or make anything for anyone. I think she's especially concerned for the people she will possibly spend Christmas with. Also she can't really get anything for Christmas. I think we plan on possibly wrapping a deck of cards for her to open Christmas week so that she has something to do on those down days.

Her and her dad have been planning different remote assignments they can go on. They are talking about trying to go to Korea at the same time. Then Josie tried to talk him into Antarctica. John however can't go there. Josie however might try to go anyhow. It's only a 6 month tour. So that could be good for her. Who knows. I'm just glad she's excited.
